Freedom to Explore
Netham house provides two large indoor classrooms each with their own independently accessed garden. Our ultimate goal is to enable the children to have fun, explore and have the freedom to express their individuality, while forming the basis of their education. Outdoor Space The children are able to use our wonderful gardens and outside space (under supervision) at any time.

In the moment planning Children are born with a natural desire to explore and learn and practitioners can support them in this. We do this by creating an environment (both physical and emotional) and through the relationships and interactions that the children experience. We do not plan ahead, rather we remain 'in the moment' with the children as they explore and learn. We observe carefully, and enhance the learning whenever we spot a 'teachable moment'. Our observations, interactions and the outcomes are recorded afterwards. Indoor Space Our rooms have been carefully planned to enable children to move freely around them whilst keeping some area's cosier and quieter. All our resources are available for children to access, they are labelled and have a shadowed home to be returned to. This encourages children's independence and confidence, promoting a 'can do' attitude. A quote from our recent QIF (quality improvement framework) "It was an absolute delight to walk around your setting; it is very evident that lots of work has taken place resulting in a very rich literate environment". Our priority is to provide a friendly, safe environment where the children learn through play and experiences. |
Allotment visits
We have an allotment close by and try to take the Oaks children on regular visits. This year we have grown potatoes, beans, squash. The children have enjoyed planting, watering and eating our produce.

Preschool Team
Our staff are qualified and experienced members of a close, professional team supervised by Sharon Carstairs. Each child in our care is assigned a "Key Person". This person will ensure the individual needs of your child are met. Your child's key person will help you and your child become familiar with the provision and to feel confident and safe, creating a genuine bond between your child, yourself and the preschool.
At St. George Preschool we recognise parents as the first and most important educators of their children. With this in mind, parental involvement is considered to be an essential part of our preschool it is both valued and welcomed.
