Freedom to Explore
Netham house provides two large indoor classrooms each with their own independently accessed garden. Our ultimate goal is to enable the children to have fun, explore and have the freedom to express their individuality, while forming the basis of their education.

Outdoor Space

The children are able to use our wonderful gardens and outside space (under supervision) at any time.

Indoor Space

Our rooms have been carefully planned to enable children to move freely around them whilst keeping some area's  cosier and quieter. All our resources are available for children to access. This encourages the children's independence and confidence, promoting a 'can do' attitude.

Our Ofsted report (16th July 2021) stated that '
Children are happy and excited to attend the pre-school'. 'Partnerships with parents are strong and well established'. 'Staff know the children well'.

Our priority is to provide a friendly, safe environment where the children learn through play and experiences.
Preschool Team
Our staff are qualified and experienced members of a close, professional team supervised by Sharon Carstairs. Each child in our care is assigned a "Key Person". This person will ensure the individual needs of your child are met. Your child's key person will help you and your child become familiar with the provision and to feel confident and safe, creating a genuine bond between your child, yourself and the preschool.

At St. George Preschool we recognise parents as the first and most important educators of their children. With this in mind, parental involvement is considered to be an essential part of our preschool it is both valued and welcomed.
In the moment teaching of our curriculum
At St George Preschool we teach our children ‘in the moment’ through their play. Teachable moments arise during everyday activities, these are when we can provide ‘teaching’ based on a child’s curiosity, further deepening their exploration & understanding. We create a rich learning environment, providing opportunities and space for all children to succeed. Our staff team are trained to a high standard and will support and extend all children’s learning through the ‘in the moment’ approach.
Our aspiration for all children is that during their time in the Acorns room they will: -
  • Be able to ‘happily’ detach from their parent / carer
  • Have a secure relationship with staff & peers
  • Be independent in self-care, be able to make choices and develop a strong sense of self
  • Be able to develop and communicate their needs, in their own way (the unique child)
  • Have an understand of rules, routines and social expectations
  • Be able to respect and care for the environment, staff and peers
  • Have developed their physical skills, both fine and gross motor
  • Be able to self-regulate and understand their emotions
Our aspiration for all children is that during their time in Oaks room and in preparation for everyone being ‘school ready’ they will:
  • Be able to self-regulate and manage their emotions
  • Be confident within the environment
  • Feel safe, happy and secure
  • Be independent with self-care
  • Be able to follow preschool rules and routine’s
